The Los Angeles Rams waived kicker Harrison Mevis after he missed a pair of field goals in the team’s Week 5 loss to the Buffalo Bills, signing Blake Grupe to replace him.
But early in their Week 6 game against the Arizona Cardinals, they might be without Grupe as well.
The new Los Angeles kicker came up limping after his first kickoff against Arizona, after he was forced to make the tackle following a lengthy return. You can see the play in question in this clip below, after he gets spun violently after thumps the returner out of bounds:
The Rams were kicking off after Grupe made a 44-yard field goal attempt to open the scoring for the Rams.
He was spotted heading to the locker room, described as “limping with what looks like a shoulder injury as well:”
The Rams listed his as doubtful to return with a knee injury.
If Grupe cannot return, punter Ethan Evans will handle kicking duties, while wide receiver Jordan Whittington may take over holding for kicks:
After scoring a touchdown early in the second quarter the Rams elected to try for the two-point conversion, but Matthew Stafford was sacked and the Cardinals nearly returned the loose ball the length of the field for two points:
This is a developing story and will be updated.
